Prosthesis Adapters by 3D printing

Context:

Prostheses are the key to mobility for the disabled. Lightweight and custom design shall be provided. The scope of the experiment is to manufacture an ultralightweight part that can resist the high dynamic load environment at low cost and time. Topology   optimized geometry can be manufactured by means of Additive Manufacturing, which allows complex geometry and customization freedom at competitive price and time.

The challenge:

  • Develop ultralight, stiff as nominal design and strong prothesis adapter.
  • Mass saving.
  • Maintain similar stiffness as nominal product.

Withstand the high load from professional users.
